Introduction to Philosophy

This course introduces the traditional divisions of philosophy and methods of philosophical inquiry as presented by ancient and modern philosophers. Includes an examination of human nature, reality and being, religion and the existence of God, knowledge and truth, moral values, and social and political philosophy. Students will develop thinking, reasoning, and argumentation skills to support their own philosophical perspectives and challenge the perspectives of others. Prerequisite: High School GPA of 2.6 and MMR and MMW or Accuplacer Reading Skills of 236 and Writing of 237 or ACT of 15 Reading/16 English or completion of College Reading and Writing 1 10831104 with a “C” or better
