This course will familiarize students with the religious traditions of the world by providing a broad overview of major religions including Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and others. Indigenous religions and new religious movements will also be studied. An emphasis is placed on each religion’s origins and historical development, main doctrines, teachings, ethics, sacred texts, and ways of worship. Prerequisite: Reading - Multiple Measure Reading (MMR) or Accuplacer 236 or ACT 15 AND Writing - Multiple Measure Writing (MMW) or Accuplacer 237 or ACT of 16 OR College Reading and Writing 1 10831104 with a C or better This course has options available to receive credit for prior learning (CPL) or work experience.
